Lower Lake Dam
The RJRD board has entered into a contract with Gannett Fleming to evaluate the replacement of the Lower Lake dam. The staff of Gannett Fleming will begin by taking core samples and surveying the dam, They are working Lawhon and Associates, Inc., to handle permitting with regulatory agencies. Because of the historic significance of Kirby Mill, Architectural Restoration & Renovation Consultants (ARRC) is part of the team to provide historical restoration consultation. Results are expected in December.
Fish Relocated to Upper Lake
To prepare for the evalulation of the Lower Lake Dam (see above), the lake had to be drained, so fish in the Lower Lake were relocated in April (at no cost to taxpayers) to the Upper Lake by volunteers and professionals from the Cleveland Metroparks. Springtime is considered the best and least stressful time of year to move the fish, as it is before spawning season.
